Hi Robin. This is excellent on a number of levels. I'm with you, allow Google to drive your behavior which, when you think about it, is nothing more than doing the right thing. Isn't that always the best way to go anyway?

I couldn't agree with you more, Kristine. For the highly competitive terms and sites, it takes a lot of effort, testing, linking strategies and more to rank for the terms you are targeting. I am trying to get it through everyone's head FIRST AND FOREMOST that you have to have the right foundation, target your keywords, no duplicate content, etc. If I can get everyone to start out right, I think we can go on from there. =)

Hi Robin, nice post and I understand what you are referring to when it comes to the more technical parts of optimization. Don't take this the wrong way because I realize that you are telling us the basics of SEO but do not over simplify thing by saying that advanced SEO techniques do not exist. I thought the same thing until I hired on an SEO company and after 3 years of me and the people around trying the techniques that you talk about, we finally ranked number one for some very competitive terms. Obviously these guys knew what they were doing and they had different techniques which was much more than what you talk about.

Keep these great informative posts coming!
